Procedures for foreign workers who wish to enter Thailand to work

The steps for foreign workers who want to work in Thailand can be divided into the following main steps:
 
1. Requesting permission to bring foreign workers in to work
Employers who want to hire foreign workers must first apply for permission, which are as follows:
- Submit an application for permission to hire foreign workers to the responsible agency (e.g. the Ministry of Labor or the Provincial Employment Office)
- The employer must inform the number of workers, the need to hire, and the type of work required
- Wait for approval and issuance of permission documents (Quota)
 
2. Document preparation and nationality verification
Foreign workers must have the correct documents and go through the nationality verification process to confirm their identity. The required documents are as follows:
- Passport or a substitute document
- Work permit
- Non-Thai nationality identification card (if any)
- Health certificate from an authorized hospital
 
3. Visa application
Foreign workers must apply for a Non-Immigrant visa type "L-A" or a work visa. By doing it at the Thai embassy in the country of origin or at the immigration checkpoint.
 
4. Traveling to Thailand
- Travel to the country through the correct channel (immigration checkpoint)
- Check documents with immigration officers.
 
5. Applying for a work permit in Thailand (Work Permit)
After the foreign worker arrives in Thailand, the employer must submit an application for a work permit for the foreign worker within 15 days by submitting it to the provincial employment office or the Ministry of Labor.
- The employer must submit evidence such as an employment contract, a company certificate, and other documents.
- When receiving a work permit, the foreign worker can start working as specified in the permit.
 
6. Health check-up and health insurance
The foreign worker must:
- Have a health check-up from a certified hospital.
- Have health insurance or register with social security to receive basic welfare.
 
7. Registration of foreign workers
The foreign worker must register with the relevant agencies, including:
- Provincial employment office
- Social Security Office
 
8. Renewal of work permit and visa
The foreign worker must renew the work permit and visa before it expires. To be able to work in Thailand legally

1. Groups of foreign workers who are legally allowed to work in Thailand include:
- Workers from neighboring countries such as Myanmar, Laos, Cambodia
- Workers who enter to work under international MOU agreements
2. Workers must comply with Thai laws and regulations to avoid arrest or punishment
